“Let’s Build a Zoo!” is a hands-on, team-based summer project where kids don’t just learn about animals—they build an entire zoo from scratch.

They’ll dream up the habitats, pick the animals, design the layout, make signs, plan the budget, and even pitch their ideas to an audience. It’s part storytelling, part science, part art, and a whole lot of teamwork.

This program sits in that sweet spot: it’s more than a camp, but not as intense (or expensive) as a private tutor. We mix learning with creativity and let kids lead the way.

Techie Tots Innovation Lab
A summer learning experience for creative kids!

The Basics

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:00–11:00 A.M.

Dates: June 5 – July 31 (15 total sessions, no class July 8 and July 10)

Who: Kids entering 2nd or 3rd grade (public school) or homeschoolers working at a 2nd–3rd grade level in reading, writing, and math

Where: Ms. Monica’s home located near Westover Hills Blvd & Wiseman Blvd, address will be shared after registration

Cost: $199/month (2-month commitment) for the full program with a one-time $15 supply fee

Typical Day in the Lab

A fun warm-up or challenge to kick things off
A short lesson tied to science, geography, math, or writing
Time in teams to plan or build their part of the zoo
Hands-on work time: drawing, writing, constructing, or researching
A quick group share at the end to talk about what they learned or made

Our Goal

We created this program because summer learning loss is real, but worksheets aren’t the answer. Kids need spaces where they can stay sharp, explore their ideas, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

At the Innovation Lab, we believe kids learn best when they’re:
