June 2025 Classes​​

Wednesday, June 4 or Friday, June 6, 9:00am-12:30pm

Science: Does color affect taste? - With food dyes in the news, we will explore how food color affects our perception of flavor. Students will use the Scientific Method to make predictions, test their hypotheses, and record their results.

Social Skills: First Impressions Matter - This week is all about the power of a first impression. Children will learn how to introduce themselves confidently, practice polite greetings, and understand the importance of eye contact, body language, and a warm smile. We’ll use role-playing games and fun skits to practice meeting new people respectfully.

Science: Clam Dissection - Students will investigate the external and internal anatomy of clams.

Social Skills: Magic Words & Kind Conversations - Using “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me” never goes out of style! Kids will explore how tone, word choice, and active listening can build better friendships. We’ll also talk about what to do when conversations go wrong—and how to make them right again.

Science: Static Electricity - Students will explore the attractive force of static electricity by making Jumping Goop.

Social Skills: Table Manners Made Fun - Yes, we’ll cover napkins, utensils, and chewing with your mouth closed—but we’ll do it in a playful way! Children will participate in a pretend “tea party” or picnic where they’ll practice using utensils properly, waiting their turn, and complimenting the cook.

Wednesday, June 25 or Friday, June 27, 9:00am-12:30pm

Science: Soldering 2.0 - Soldering is a process of joining two metal surfaces together with a filler metal called solder. It is commonly used in the electronics industry to manufacture circuit boards. Students will practice soldering and will create their own light-up electronic toys.

Social Skills: Kindness Counts (Digital & Real Life) - Whether texting or talking, kindness matters. This week includes a gentle introduction to digital etiquette alongside real-world skills like giving compliments, resolving small conflicts kindly, and respecting personal space.

Field Trip: Chuck E. Cheese's STEAM-tastic Adventure

Transportation will be provided. Parents are welcome to attend.

Social Skills: Public Place Politeness - From the library to the grocery store, this week focuses on respectful behavior in public spaces. Children will learn how to hold doors, wait patiently, use indoor voices, and show gratitude to service workers.

Wednesday, July 16 or Friday, July 18, 9:00am-12:30pm

Science: Metamorphosis - Students will study the process of metamorphosis by setting up a live caterpillar habitat. Each child will take home their caterpillar to watch it transform into a butterfly.

Social Skills: Being a Great Guest (and Host!) Kids will learn what it means to be a thoughtful guest and a welcoming host. We’ll cover things like arriving on time, thanking your host, offering to help, and noticing when someone needs a friend.

Science: Edible Water Bottles - With microplastics in the news, we will investigate biodegradable alternatives to plastic waste. Students will make edible water bottles.

Social Skills: Problem-solving with Politeness - What happens when someone cuts in line or takes your toy? We’ll help children learn how to express frustration in respectful ways, how to advocate for themselves, and when to get help from a grown-up. It’s conflict resolution with a kindness twist!

Wednesday, July 30 or Friday, August 1, 9:00am-12:30pm

Science: Magnetism - Students will explore the attracting and repelling forces of magnets and electromagnetism.

Social Skills: Confidence & Compliments Celebration - This week, we’ll celebrate everything we’ve learned during the summer! Children will practice giving and receiving compliments, build a “toolkit” of kind words, and participate in a fun role-play showcase. We’ll end the summer with certificates, smiles, and a fancy snack.

Science: Lava Lamps (Density) - Students will learn about the property of density by building oil-in-water lava lamps. Groovy!

Science: Catapults - A catapult works like a lever, which is a simple machine. Students will build their own catapults and compete for the farthest launch.

Science: Roots/Growing Seeds - Students will learn about the plant lifecycle, starting with a seed and progressing through germination, seedling, and mature plant stages.

Science: Flower Dissection - Students will carefully separate and identify the parts of a flower, including the petals, sepals, stamens, and pistil.

Science: Egg Drop Challenge - Splat! Using a variety of materials, we will engineer contraptions to (hopefully) save the eggs dropped from a height.
